Corbett Challenge 2004The third Corbett Challenge took place on Saturday 18th September 2004. This time the Challenge was to put a team of walkers on the top of the 110 mountains in England and Wales over 2,500' between 12.00 and 2.00 on the day.
Teams of walkers came from many organisations including:
AMEC, ARUP, AWG, Capita, Carlbro, Engenica, Entec, Environment Agency, Faber Maunsell, George, Hutchison Associates, HMB Alliance, J Bacon Consulting, KMI Water, MJ Gleeson, MWH, Northumbrian Water, OFWAT, PURAC, Rotarians, SEPA , Severn Trent Laboratories, Severn Trent Plc, Thames Water, United Utilities, 3 Valleys, Vertex, WaterAid, Wessex Water, WS Atkins, Yorkshire Water. 2004 was the first time that WaterAid used an online registration system for teams of walkers to enter via the Corbett Challenge website. The system worked really well and 173 teams, a total of 920 walkers, took part. Unfortunately once again the challenge was not achieved due to several teams pulling out at the eleventh hour. Special thanks should go to Mountain Owners Dave Whiteley, Frank Bozic; Paul Joyce; Ben Caulfield; Senior Marshalls Barrie Coates and Clare Kenny; Marshalls Sarah Williams; Neil Disney; Jenny Dixon; Dave Wood; Norman Lidbury; Ben Caulfield; Julie Wilson; Barrie Coates; Kit & Jean Hennings; Rob Woodall; Steve Clawson; Nick Harris; Tom & Camilla Veitch; Don Bullough; Chris Sills; Margaret & John Chippendale; Elizabeth Agar; Vanessa Ashton; Paul Joyce; Tom Hamilton; Brian Warner; High Williams and Peter Williams; and a special thank you to John Wareing who manned the Control Centre at Warrington and who reconciled all the cash afterwards. The 2004 Corbett Challenge raised a staggering £68,000. With your help we can reach the 2006 target of £75,000. |
